PRCC dominated Hinds (1-3, 1-1) from the opening kickoff until the final horn sounded. The Wildcats (1-3, 1-1) bagged three touchdowns in the first quarter and didn't look back.
Darious Leggett had his running game in high gear. He piled up 193 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns helping PRCC to secure the first win of the season, 1 and 1 in the South Division standings.
PRCC head coach David Saunders said, "We saw it in practice, not just this week. There were some things leading up to it. We erased a lot of the things that have prevented us from winning in the past games, and we started seeing it in practice.
The Wildcats jump all over the Hinds defense on the opening drive. PRCC took just five plays to go 60 yards for Leggett's first touchdown.
Leggett said, "Our offensive line and our coaching staff did an awesome job in this game. We just had to come in an execute the game plan, and take care of our plays."
Defensively, Randy Hogan, Jr. forced a fumble that Leonard LaBranch recovered at the Hinds 45. From there the Wildcats would score in just five plays.
LaBranch said, "We just trusted the process. We just had to make plays happen."
LaBranch had a big night defensively. He had an interception and 27-yard return to the Hinds 3-yard-line that set up another Wildcats touchdown. He would add a second fumble recovery in the third quarter.
Linebacker Chase Crosby had a nose for the football. He made 10 tackles, and two of the Wildcats' four sacks.
The Wildcats totaled 438 yards offensively with 354 yards on the ground. Quarterback Timothy Arnold received his first starting assignment and responded by completing 10 of 15 passes for 84 yards and two scores.
