ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is investigating a drive-by shooting. It happened Thursday around 9 p.m. in the Chevron gas station parking lot on Washington Ave.
Capt. Mick Spears said by the time deputies got to the scene, the two parties allegedly involved were gone, but one of the vehicles was left behind.
Deputies are now looking for a dark navy blue PT Cruiser believed to be involved in the shooting. That vehicle was last seen driving west on I-10.
Spears told WLOX News Now a red Ford pickup truck, that was somehow involved in the shooting, was found on a curb facing Washington Ave. Chief Deputy John Ledbetter said the truck had a bullet hole in the driver's side door.
Investigators were seen searching around gas pumps where the shooting reportedly happened.
We've learned no one was shot but bullets did strike a car in the parking lot. No word at this time what led to the shooting.
Ledbetter said no one has come forward with information about the shooting, but investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station and a nearby hotel.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 228-769-3065 or 228-769-3063.
