GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Do you think you have a good idea to help make Biloxi or Gulfport a better place to live and work? The Knight Cities Challenge may be for you.

Tonight’s meeting from 5 to 6 is at Chandeleur Brewing in Gulfport. It’s an informational meeting about the challenge, which is a partnership with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and the Knight Foundation that seeks new ideas from innovators.

The Knight Foundation is looking to award grants at the city, neighborhood, and block levels from a pool of $5 million. The meeting will discuss how to apply for the grants, among other items.

There will be another meeting in Biloxi from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 23 at the Gulf Coast Design Studio on Howard Ave.

Even if you miss the meetings, that's OK. You can still apply. Applications will be accepted from Oct. 10 to Nov. 3.

For more information, contact Lauren Williams with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation at (228) 897-4841.
