BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - It has created countless headaches for residents, but progress is being made on the massive infrastructure project that turned much of east Biloxi into one big construction zone.
The infrastructure work not only includes building new roads, but also installing new water and sewer lines. Much of Division Street remains torn up and riddled with detours; as are so many connecting side streets. The biggest complaint from residents who spoke with WLOX News Now aside from the clouds of dust, is why the contractor felt it necessary to tear up most all of the streets at once, rather than working on one section at a time.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew "FoFo" Gilich has pushed for temporary pavement on some streets to better improve access to businesses. Residents say they see the work crews on the job every day, but they wonder how much progress is being made.
Tonight, Steve Phillips takes a closer look at the construction zone.
