BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Despite designating a large portion of a Tuesday night council meeting to the topic, Biloxi has not yet adopted the 2017 fiscal year budget.
Council members were asking plenty of questions, including inquiring about a new settlement agreement from the secretary of state's office paying the city back $873,000.
Council Robert Deming says that because the council learned about it today, with the type of money added to the budget, it's hard to move forward with an adoption.
"I think there were some recent changes to the budget that we all have questions about that were just done recently. Some new revenues and some expenditures that are proposed, so we wanted to vet those before we passed the budget," said Deming.
FEMA owes the city about $16 million in reimbursement for infrastructure work.
The budget meeting will resume Thursday at 1 p.m.
