BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A business organization in Biloxi is making big changes to connect the entire coast.
Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled its new name Tuesday. Local business owners and community leaders first formed the organization, previously known as the Biloxi Bay Chamber of Commerce, in 1989. They chose the name Biloxi Bay to embrace the body of water known as the Biloxi Bay, touching coastal shores, and the Biloxi Bay Bridge that connects the area.
Organizers say the name encompasses the entire coastal area, just like the membership.
The Board of Directors made the big announcement Tuesday night live during WLOX News Now at 6. Leaders say the change to "Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce" better reflects who the organization is as of now.
Boasting members from state line to state line and beyond, the chamber of commerce does not have city, county or state line boundaries in its membership area. In fact, businesses from New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama have recently joined.
