OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Police in Ocean Springs are asking for the public's help to catch a purse snatcher and are warning people to be more aware of their surroundings.

Ocean Springs Police Department say a customer was shopping at CVS Pharmacy on Sunday when her purse was stolen out of her shopping cart.

The suspect is described as being a clean shaven white male wearing black-colored jeans, a light blue t-shirt, a navy blue ball cap, and black tennis shoes. Police say he has freckles on his face and may have tattoos on his arms. He left the store in a white, four-door vehicle. Witnesses say the vehicle had a Louisiana tag with the letters ZT on it.

As the holiday months approach, authorities are advising people to be more aware when shopping and not leave personal items unattended in shopping cart, not even for a second.

If you have any information on the man wanted in this purse snatching, please contact Ocean Springs Police Department at 228-875-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
