BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - High school football fans can tune-in to WLOX-ABC CBS tonight at 10:15 for the Friday Night Football Showdown. A.J. Giardina and Tyler Bouldin will have game highlights from six local games and all the scores.
St. Stanislaus travels to D'Iberville. The Rockachaws had rung up 3 straights wins before losing to Brother Martin in New Orleans last week 42 to 7.
The 2 and 1 Warriors under first-year head coach Eric Collins pulled off a big upset win at Oak Grove last Friday by the score of 51 to 44.
If D'Iberville is to win a third straight game, the Warriors defense will have to contain the passing of Rockachaws quarterback Myles Brennan. The LSU commit needs only 125 yards to surpass former St. Stanislaus quarterback Dylan Favre to become the all-time leader in passing yards in Mississippi. Favre ended his high school career with 12,559 yards.
The home standing Harrison Central Red Rebels will try bouncing back under the win column after dropping a road game at Pearl River Central last week by the score of 47 to 21.
The 2 and 1 Red Rebels will be at home in Lyman hosting undefeated Picayune. The 3-0 Maroon Tide have already beaten three Class 6A teams, D'Iberville, St. Martin and Gulfport by a combined score of 116 to 35.
In another Friday Night Football Showdown the 2 and 2 Moss Point Tigers battle Long Beach in Jackson County. The Tigers have dropped two straight while the Bearcats posted their first win of the season last Friday, a 14-7 decision over Vancleave.
Ocean Springs enjoyed a bye-week and are back on the football turf tonight facing 2 and 2 Jackson Murrah. The 2 and 1 Greyhounds take aim on a third straight home win, while visiting Murrah lost to Provine 34-14 last Friday.
Pass Christian running back V.J. Swanier exploded on the ground last week with 315 yards rushing and bagged four touchdowns in leading the 2 and 2 Pirates past West Harrison 38-21. Swanier and his Pirate teammates entertain West Lincoln.
Our final Friday Night Football Showdown has the 3 and 1 Resurrection Eagles on the home turf at War Memorial Stadium, opening Region 4-1A play against Mount Olive.
The Eagles are coming off a 24-21 last second win over Perry Central.
