SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Despite the peak of hurricane season occurring last weekend, tropical activity has kicked up in the last few days.
We are tracking three named tropical systems in the Atlantic: newly-formed Tropical Depression Twelve near the west African coast, Tropical Storm Ian over the central Atlantic, and Tropical Storm Julia near the Georgia coast.
"None of these tropical systems pose an immediate threat to the Mississippi Gulf Coast," said WLOX First Alert Meteorologist Wesley Williams. "But, we will continue to monitor Tropical Depression Twelve closely, which is expected to become Tropical Storm Karl by later Wednesday or Thursday."
Check back for further updates as we continue to track T.D. Twelve as it moves westward in the Atlantic.
