GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has identified the man killed late Tuesday night in a shooting on Monterrey Dr. in Gulfport.

Hargrove said Trevues Martin, 20, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This was the second fatal shooting in two days in the city and Gulfport’s 10th since the start of the year.

Several people were standing outside the home in the 3900 block of Monterey Dr. around 10:30 p.m., and several of them were crying. One woman said her son had been shot and he would have turned 21 on Wednesday.

Police said Martin was found inside a vehicle outside the home. The deadly shooting has many in the area asking questions about violence in the city.

"This has been the second shooting out here, and it seems like it was unsolved, and we need justice for it. I don't think it's right, and there needs to be something done about it," said a Gulfport resident who wishes not to be named.

"I want to say stop the violence, because he was a good person, and I know a lot of people that died going through these crimes. I feel like the kids shouldn't have to suffer with what we're taking them through. They should be able to live life good and peaceful," said Sentoria Thompson.

What caused this shooting is still under investigation, and officials have not located or named a suspect in the case. Anyone with information is advised to contact the Gulfport Police Department.
