Keesler Security Officer Receives Award

Wednesay, our own Marcia Hill presented Sergeant Candace Shaffer with the award. Shaffer was nominated for her willingness to accept new challenges, and for using her investigative skills to solve a burlary, a narcotics case and for being a devoted leader and mentor.

She will be one of two Keesler representatives, vying for "Officer of the Year" at next week's law enforcement breakfast.

"I feel that I couldn't have gotten this award without my colleagues," Shaffer said. "They help me out a lot and it's a team effort and I'm just really happy that they nominated me."

Shaffer will compete with eight other officers for Officer of the Year. That award will be announced next Tuesday. For information on buying tickets to the law enforcement appreciation breakfast, call the Coast Crime Commission at 864-9885.
