Mississippi says goodbye to WWII hero

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi is mourning the loss of a war hero.

WLOX News Now featured Adelchi Anthony "Ducky" Pilutti and his heroism during World War II in our veteran's history stories. The decorated soldier passed away over the weekend in Ocean Springs.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne during WWII, as well as a Retired Special Forces CSM. Pilutti was decorated with the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the French Legion of Honor. Pilutti enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and coin collecting.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Wounded Minutemen of Mississippi in Purvis.

Pilutti will be laid to rest Wednesday, September 14. Funeral services will take place at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friends may visit from 12 p.m. until the service starts. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
