'Billion Dollar Buyer' begins shooting in Biloxi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Shooting for the second season of the CNBC's reality series "Billion Dollar Buyer" began Thursday at Golden Nugget in Biloxi.

The series stars Tillman Fertitta, owner of Landry's, Inc., which includes more than 500 properties; including five Golden Nugget casinos.

"This is the first show that we've ever shot in this area," Fertitta said. "And it was real important to me. Biloxi and Gulfport are important communities to me, and it's important to the Golden Nugget Brand, and one of the things I wanted to do was shoot one of the shows here."

Thursday's filming featured a Louisiana cosmetic business called Kismet. In each of the upcoming 12 episodes, Fertitta will spend time with two small businesses, sampling their goods and assessing their compatibility with Landry's, Inc.

While on the Coast, he will also interview owners of Pop Brothers popsicles in Gulfport.

"We sure don't want anybody in the show that we don't have a real sincere interest in finding and buying their product," Fertitta said. "Remember, we're looking for unique ideas. So all of these companies are unique, they have something special about them. And we hope to have an opportunity to buy their product and bring them to the next level."

The season will begin sometime late fall.
