SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - There are plenty of ways to celebrate Independence Day in South Mississippi. Whether you're looking for fireworks and food or festivals and fun, there's something for everyone to do this holiday weekend.
Here's a list of Independence Day celebrations taking place along the coast:
- Biloxi Back Bay
The IP and Scarlet Pearl Casinos are teaming up for a 15-minute display starting at 9 p.m. Best viewing areas will be the Scarlet Pearl Back Bay car park and the top floor of the IP parking garage.
- Ocean Springs Front Beach
A community-wide fireworks celebration will kick off at 9 p.m. Traffic on Front Beach and East Beach will become one-way starting at noon. All access roads will be blocked at 7 p.m.
- Gulfport Fireworks Display
Fireworks start at 8:45 p.m. at Gulfport Harbor to close out the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo. Best viewing locations are Jones Park, Gulfport Marina and the beach west of Hewes Ave.
- Biloxi Fireworks Display
Fireworks will launch from a barge near Deer Island at 9 p.m. Best viewing areas will be from the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor east to Oak St. (Personal fireworks are prohibited in this area).
- MGM Park in Biloxi
Fireworks show will directly follow the Shuckers game against the Jacksonville Suns. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m.
- Pascagoula Fireworks Display
9 p.m. at Beach Park (Martin St. to Pascagoula St. will close at 8:30 p.m.)
- Necaise Crossing Ball Park in Perkinston
Fireworks begin at 7:30 p.m.
- Lucedale Fireworks Display
Fireworks will light up the night sky at dusk behind the old Walmart building on Cowart St.
- Pass Christian Beach
LED light kites will fly and the fireworks display will start around 7:45 p.m.
- St. Peter's By The Sea in Gulfport
From 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. enjoy delicious food, a baking contest, talent show and a great seat for the Gulfport Fireworks display.
