GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Baton Rouge man is facing felony charges after Harrison County deputies say they caught him with 25 pounds of marijuana.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, 42-year-old Maurice Lamar Payne was stopped on I-10 in Pass Christian on June 23. Upon searching Payne's 2009 Lincoln MKS, deputies found 2 pounds of marijuana.
After arresting the suspect and executing a search warrant at a Gulfport storage locker belonging to Payne, an additional 23 pounds of marijuana and more than $6,000 was recovered.
Payne was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility, where he was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distributed.
He is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
