Police: Man jumped into Davis Bayou to escape traffic stop

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The Ocean Springs Police Department is searching for a man they say jumped into Davis Bayou to get away from a traffic stop.

University of Southern Mississippi campus police at the Gulf Coast Research Lab stopped Jason Aldrich for a traffic violation Thursday evening, and called OSPD for backup. When the officer arrived, Capt. William Jackson says Aldrich jumped into Davis Bayou and swam away.

Police say Aldrich is wanted on burglary warrants in Ocean Springs, Jackson County and Harrison County. Capt.

OSPD and the Department of Marine Resources have boats in the bayou looking for Aldrich.
