GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A 76-year-old Gulfport man is behind bars Wednesday after police say he shot another man in the chest.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, Edward Melvin Moore got into a argument with a man at a home in the 10000 block of Jake Bell Rd. on June 21. When the confrontation became physical, Moore pulled out a gun and shot the man in the chest sometime around 5:30 p.m.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Officials say the victim is now in stable condition.
Moore was arrested and charged with one felony count of aggravated assault. He is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
