BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Gun control. The mere mention of those two words makes some people cringe. Others automatically get fired up.
It's an issue that has long sharply divided, if not polarized, Americans. It's also an issue that promptly is brought up in the wake of America's sadly too often mass shootings.
Steve Phillips raised the subject with people at the Biloxi Lighthouse parking lot. He found a variety of opinions on the hot button topic; opinions as diverse as the states where these visitors reside.
One Kentucky man said guns are not the issue.
"It's the people," he said, adding that he personally owns "about 40" guns.
One young woman from Alabama said while she's never had strong opinions on the subject, the Orlando tragedy made her stop and think.
"We have to do something. It's too easy for someone like that to get ahold of automatic weapons," she said.
