OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Tuesday night's meeting of the Ocean Springs Planning Commission could be an interesting one. That's because Scott and Trinity Walker will appear before the commission asking for approval to operate their East Beach home as a bed-and-breakfast.

Earlier this year, the Walkers wanted to open up their home for wedding receptions and short term rentals. They even advertised before seeking the proper permits. Today, they admit that was a mistake.

This time, however, they have applied for all the proper bed and breakfast permits and have even made renovations to the home in order to pass inspection.

Scott Walker, who was released from a federal prison in January after serving 13 months on corruption charges, admits that prison changed him. Trinity Walker became emotional when asked the same question. But both say they are better people because of the experience and their marriage is stronger now.

Scott Walker is currently paying back $180,000 in restitution for his crimes. He says the income generated by the bed and breakfast rental will help him meet that obligation. Both the walkers are employed, but say any extra money coming in will help, especially raising two young boys.

The Walkers say the city has been very helpful in getting their fledgling business to this point. They also say there has been little opposition from neighbors to the idea of a bed and breakfast.

If the planning commission passes the permit request, it will be voted on by the entire board of alderman next week. If it fails, the Walkers say they will appeal to the board of alderman.
