JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - One suspect accused in a string of auto burglaries has been arrested in Jackson County with the help of surveillance videos and a Crime Stoppers tip.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said several auto burglaries were reported in the Gulf Park Estates and St. Andrews neighborhoods on the morning of May 26.
After getting surveillance footage from the homes of several victims, investigators were able to provide photos of the suspects to Crime Stoppers.
According to Ezell, a tip from the organization identified one of the suspects as 34-year-old Jeremy Adam Dykes, of Ocean Springs.
Dykes was arrested Wednesday and charged with commercial burglary of a vehicle. He faces up to seven years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
Ezell said at the time of his arrest, Dykes also had an active warrant through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation related to previous burglary charges.
The investigation is ongoing. Ezell said more arrests and charges are pending.
