GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Downtown Gulfport is about to get a brand new business. Developers claim it will be one of a kind. City officials are hoping that an upcoming addition to downtown will let visitors stay in the city in style.
About six months into construction, and Hotel Vogue is taking shape. The century-old building in downtown Gulfport was gutted and has been rebuilt from the inside out.
Economic development director David Parker said the hotel will feature 16 rooms, a restaurant and bar all in an Art Deco style.
"It's wonderful. We don't really have a downtown hotel. We have hotels close to downtown, but this is a hotel where people actually can stay downtown in a very unique environment and walk to restaurants at night, conduct business during the day. It's another element that downtown needed," said Parker.
The renovation should be complete in the next few months, and developers plan to have the hotel open by the end of the summer.
