MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced two men to prison in what prosecutors describe as a sex-trafficking scheme in central Alabama. A statement from prosecutors says 25-year-old Michael Graham Lowe of Prattville was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison during a hearing Thursday. Thirty-year-old Joshua David Rose of Prattville got almost 17 years in prison. Rose pleaded guilty last year, and jurors convicted Lowe earlier this year.

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Mobile, Alabama, are considering a proposal to swap the city's two airports. A plan under consideration would send commercial passenger traffic which now lands west of the city at Mobile Regional Airport to Mobile Downtown Airport, which mainly handles cargo and general aviation flights. A study released this week says the swap could work. The city hopes to regain passengers now flying out of airports in the Florida Panhandle, Mississippi and New Orleans.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama police lieutenant charged with raping a teen relative by force has resigned from his position. reports Birmingham Police Lt. Pete Williston submitted his resignation Tuesday. Williston's attorney, Scott Morro, says Williston is resigning because he needs "healing" and is remorseful. Morris Police Chief Mike Nazarchyk says a 24-year-old woman reported the abuse to the department in May. She told police Williston sexually abused her from 2008 to 2011 when she was 14 years old.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Three conservation groups have announced a federal lawsuit saying the government has failed to comply with environmental law governing offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Thursday's lawsuit, filed in Florida, says federal wildlife agencies have not completed a formal consultation with the agencies regulating offshore drilling since 2007. It says the Endangered Species Act requires such a consultation _ and the publication of an opinion on the possible effects of such drilling on wildlife.
