Biloxi Shuckers pull out 3-2 win over Montgomery in 14 innings

BILOXI, MS (Biloxi Shuckers) - Victor Roache led off the top of the 14th inning with a triple for the Shuckers.  Chris McFarland would step up to the plate and single home what turned out to be the game winner as Roache galloped to home plate.

Roache had 2 hits in 5 at-bats.  McFarland had the one big hit in six at-bats.

Biloxi grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Garrett Cooper's RBI to the Biscuits shortstop.  Phillips scored on the hit.  That's was Cooper's 28 RBI.

Montgomery plated a run in the bottom of the second and another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.

It stayed that way until the Shuckers scored the tying run in the top of the 9th inning. Roache belted his 11th double on the season and scored Omar Garcia.

The Shuckers used six pitchers on the night.  Jorge Ortega started the game and pitched 5.2 innings, gave up 6 hits and 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

Tristan Archer, Stephen Peterson, Tyler Spurlin, Daniel Tillman and Stephen Kohlscheen all kept the Biscuits off the scoreboard.  Kohlscheen (W, 2-2, 2.75 ERA) pitched the 13th and 14 innings and only gave up one hit with 2 strikeouts and 2 base on balls.

Biloxi leads the five-game series with 3 wins and 1 loss and close out the road trip 7:05 Thursday night.

The Shuckers return home to MGM Park 7:10 p.m. Friday hosting the Birmingham Barons.
