VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) - It's the picture being seen around the world right now in print and on social media, and it was taken right here in South Mississippi.

Gigi the owl missed her rescuer so much, that when he returned from a trip, she couldn't stop hugging him.

Doug Pojecky helps rehab animals for Wild at Heart Rescue in Vancleave. He nursed this owl back to health after the bird suffered a head injury when it ran into a car.

No one thought the bird could recover, but Pojecky never gave up hope. As you can see, Gigi is forever grateful.

Besides being shared on Facebook, the picture and story are featured in Country Living magazine and a publication in Belgium.
