SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Friday night, people across the Coast are paying tribute to two of the area's closest friends.

Fred Walker was a highly respected Gulfport businessman. Greg Smith was a strength coach, motivational speaker and a frequent guest on WLOX newscasts.

Both men died in the last 24 hours from health complications that weakened their bodies, but not their spirits. Many people have taken to social media to offer thoughts and prayers, and remember their lost friends.

A post from Greg's mother Adelia stated, "He fought a good fight! He finished his course like a champion! He kept the faith. He loved all of you and really appreciated your support. It was all of you who motivated him and gave him strength."

Our condolences go out to the families of Fred Walker and Greg Smith.
