BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Primped, prodded and pampered, hundreds of prize-seeking purebred dogs are showing off at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Convention Center.

The Pelican Cluster All-Breed dog show kicked off Thursday and continues through the weekend. Nine new breeds have been added for 2016.

Dog lovers can see everything from the tiniest purse puppy to pets the size of miniature horses, while groomers and handlers are busy fluffing fur, clipping nails and trimming long hair.

The annual event brings a welcome boost to the tourism economy. Dog owners and their entourages will pump more than $300,000 into the coast economy.
