KEMPER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The cost of Mississippi Power's Kemper County plant keeps rising.
The company's April report to the Securities and Exchange Commission said the plant will now cost another $20 million, which brings the total cost of the under construction facility to $6.7 billion.
According to the report, the additional money is needed operational readiness, start up challenges and commissioning activities.
If all goes according to plan, the plant's construction will be finished in September. Right now, the plant is operating in its operational testing phase.
The power company says customers will not pay anything above the cap set by the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
