MSDH cuts ribbon on state of the art medical disaster shelter

WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) - It's the first facility of its kind in the country. The Mississippi State Department of Health hosted a ribbon cutting today for its new medical needs disaster shelter.

This unique facility is located in Wiggins. It can accommodate up to 150 patient beds.

The facility was built in response to a need seen during Hurricane Katrina.

Although it was built for hurricanes, the facility can also be used for any type of disaster including terrorism or an outbreak of disease.
