ST. MARTIN, MS (WLOX) - A former St. Martin spa manager accused in a human trafficking investigation plans to plead guilty. That's according to federal documents. Yeon Sook Hwang, 41, is charged with transporting women for prostitution and money laundering.
Hwang was arrested during a raid at the spa on November 18, 2015. At that time, prosecutors told WLOX News Now an undercover investigation found evidence that 50 prostitutes were rotated through the Triple 7 Spa, which preceded as JJ Spa, during a seven month period in 2013.
In December, FBI agents testified in federal court that the business made nearly $1 million during a two year period beginning in 2012. The FBI investigator also testified about large cash transfers, multiple bank accounts and expenditures that included 9,000 condoms, purchased for the spa during an 18 month period.
Hwang's change of plea hearing is set for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Gulfport. No word at this time on which charge she will plead guilty to.
