HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - WLOX News Now has learned all charges against D'Juan Holloway in New Mexico have been dropped.
Holloway is accused of shooting Ray Howze outside a Gulfport convenience store more than a year ago. He then reportedly stole Howze's car and drove west.
The search for Holloway ended in New Mexico after a high speed chase and shootout with authorities.
Court officials in New Mexico tell us Holloway underwent a forensic evaluation there, and it was determined he is not competent to stand trial. Prosecutors decided to let him go to face the more serious charges here in Mississippi.
Holloway was extradited to Mississippi over the Memorial Day weekend. He is being held at the Harrison County jail on a charge of capital murder.
