BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi Police are still searching for the person who shot a teenager in the leg Saturday night at a house party in the Le Bonne Terre neighborhood.

Officers were called to the house in the 400 block of Carmargue Lane just after midnight when neighbors reported hearing shots fired. When they got there, they found a 16-year-old with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but the injury wasn't considered life threatening.

According to investigators, witnesses at the party said the shooting happened after a fight broke out and one of the people involved went out to a vehicle to grab a semi-automatic handgun. Multiple rounds were fired, and one of those bullets is believed to be what struck the victim.

Neither the suspected shooter nor the victim lives at the residence.

Police say they have identified a person of interest in the case, and are working to track down the person, but aren't releasing that person's identity to the public at this time.

Anyone who has information regarding this incident should call the Biloxi Police Department at (228) 392-0641, or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at (877) 787-5898. You can also contact Crime Stoppers online at mscoastcrimestoppers.com.
