BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The target is a roughly four inch "clay pigeon" that's launched out over a field at 42 miles an hour. Competitive shooters, most armed with 12 gauge shotguns, then try to blast that target to pieces.
That's what's happening at the Mississippi Trapshooting Championship being held at the shooting facility off Highway 67 in North Biloxi. More than 150 shooters from a dozen plus different states are competing in a range of events.
By the end of the weekend, some 80,000 targets will have been launched and fired upon.
