Billy McKinney stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 12th with the bases loaded. The Tennessee right fielder smacked a walk-off single off Biloxi reliever Brett Lee (L 2-1, 3.77 ERA) that propelled the Smokies past the Shuckers 3-2.
Tennessee jumped out to a 2-0 lead through three innings before the Shuckers tied the game with a run in the fourth inning and a run in the fifth inning.
Kyle Wren had 3 hits in 6 at-bats and belted a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning that tied the game. Nick Shaw was 2-for-5 and drove in the Shuckers first run of the game in the fourth inning with a single.
Wei-Chung Wang started the game for Biloxi. He went 5.1 innings, gave up 8 hits 2 runs with 5 strikeouts. Tyler Spurlin relieved Wang. He pitched two-thirds of an inning. Jed Bradley and Tristan Archer each pitched two innings before Brett Lee pitched the 11th inning and returned in the 12th. Lee gave up 3 hits including the game-winner with one out in the bottom of the twelve inning.
Brad Markey started the game for the Smokies. The Shuckers had 5 hits and scored 2 runs off Markey. Michael Jenson (2-0, 3.60 ERA) posted the win for Tennessee. He pitched the top of the twelve.
The 26 and 18 Shuckers have a travel day on Tuesday and open a 2-game road series at Mobile beginning Wednesday before hosting the BayBears Friday, Saturday and Sunday at MGM Park in Biloxi.
