Two OS High School students accused of sexually assaulting classmate

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Two Ocean Springs High School students are accused of sexually assaulting a female classmate in a bathroom at the school. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell confirmed to WLOX News Now that one of the boys faces charges related to the incident that happened the first week of May.

"We were notified by the school district and proceeded with the investigation, which led to the two young men being picked up," Ezell said.

Ezell said the investigation is continuing.

Ezell said both students were under the age of 18 at the time of the alleged assault. The sheriff said both boys were expelled from school for the rest of the school year.

One of the boys was arrested May 11, and is currently being held at the Jackson County Youth Center and the other case will be presented to a grand jury, according to Ezell. That teen has not been charged with a crime at this time.

Ocean Springs School District Superintendent Dr. Bonita Coleman-Potter confirmed the incident is under investigation.

"I don't want to compromise the investigation. We are working with local law enforcement on that issue," Coleman-Potter said.
