PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

A hometown hero returned to Pass Christian High School, visiting with old friends and teachers, inspiring student athletes and leaving behind a very special donation for the trophy case.

Gene Lang is a former football running back who played seven seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Denver Broncos. He still lives in the Denver area and is a successful businessman there.

This morning, he gathered near the high school trophy case as his football jersey was dedicated. The original was lost in Hurricane Katrina and had to be replaced.

Lang also donated his football helmet from the 1987 Super Bowl against the Washington Redskins to the school.

After the brief ceremony, he spent time with the football team, inspiring them and asking about their personal expectations.
