While buckets of rain came rushing down on the Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday, the Biloxi Shuckers (23-15) rained down hits and runs against Chattanooga (18-21).
The Shuckers banged out 12 hits and 9 runs, while the Lookouts also had success at the plate belting 9 hits and 7 runs.
Four Biloxi players had 2 runs batted in led by left fielder Victor Roache. He had two hits in two official at-bats, drove in two runs and scored a run.
catcher Jacob Nottingham smashed a two-run homer in the top of the second inning and second baseman Chris McFarland smacked a solo-home run in the third inning. Nick Ramirez served as the DH and he responded with one hit that drove home two runs. First-baseman Garrett Cooper was 2 for 5 with one RBI.
Brooks Hall started the game on the mound for the Shuckers. He was pulled after 2.2 innings after giving up 5 runs on 4 hits, 4 base on balls and 1 strikeout.
He was replaced by Brett Lee. He didn't give up a run in 1.1 innings with one strikeout and one base on balls.
Tyler Spurlin pitched 2 innings and he got the win, his first of the season. Spurlin have up a hit with 1 strikeout and walked a batter.
Stephen Peterson pitched an inning and the Lookouts scored a run on two hits. Stephen Kohlscheen closed out the game pitching the 8th and 9th innings. Chattanooga scored a run on two hits. He also had two strikeouts.
Aaron Slegers (L, 2-4) suffered the loss. The Shuckers plated 7 runs on 9 hits in 4 innings off Slegers. Luke Westphal replaced Slegers and didn't have much success. Biloxi scored 2 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings.
