JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is taking back control of the narcotics task force. The South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team, also known as the MET, has been under the Pascagoula Police Department since 2013.
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved a revised inter-local agreement that puts the sheriff's department in charge.
"It should always be our plan to not want any type of illegal drug related activity in our county," board president Melton Harris, Jr. said. "We're doing our best to push it out of Jackson County."
The team enforces the uniform controlled substance law and combats smuggling activities in the county.
