Southern Miss plays final regular season home baseball game Tuesday versus ULM

HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) - The Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team jumped six spots to No. 13 in the latest Baseball America poll and are No. 17 in the Division-One baseball poll.

On Tuesday the Golden Eagles (36-15, 30-7 C-USA) battle UL-Monroe in the final regular-season home game on Tuesday in a makeup contest.

It will be $2 Tuesday at The Pete.  Fans can purchase $2 general admission tickets as well as $2 popcorn at the concession stands.

ULM enters the contest with a 20-32 record, after dropping two of three games to Sun Belt opponent Little Rock.

Junior Hunter Stevens is the projected starter for the Golden Eagles.  The right-handed pitcher from Huntington Beach, California, has posted a 0-1 record with a 9.58 earned run average.  The Warhawks will counter with junior right-hander Josh Leone (0-2, 10.29 ERA).

Southern Miss holds a half-game lead over Rice in the Conference USA standing and can capture their fourth regular-season title in the final three games of the regular season with the Golden Eagles on the road at FIU.

The three-game series opens play Thursday and Friday at 5:30 and the final game slated to begin 10 a.m. on Saturday.
