TUPELO, MS (WLOX) - A trooper with Mississippi Highway Patrol and his K9 partner were both injured in a rear-end collision Thursday.
According to a Facebook post from MHP Trooper Mike Holmes, who was not involved in the wreck, a patrol car was hit from behind while sitting on the shoulder of Highway 45 in Tupelo.
The trooper's injuries are believed to be minor, but K9 Smoke had to be taken to the vet to determine the extent of his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle appeared to suffer more injuries.
The name of the trooper has not been released.
In a Facebook post, Trooper Holmes wrote, "These guys jobs are important, dangerous and these dogs are part of their family. Please pray for them both along with the driver of the other vehicle."
