Investigators say complaint led deputy to Jackson County; not 911 call

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Investigators are trying to paint a clearer picture of what happened in the moments before a Jackson County deputy reportedly shot and killed a suspect.

Initially, investigators said a 911 call from a hotel desk clerk led them to the Ramada Limited.

However, a news release from Jackson County's sheriff on Thursday says it was actually a complaint from a taxi driver that led the deputy to the hotel; and eventually to room 135.

On Tuesday, WLOX News Now obtained audio from the police radio.

No further details have been released at this time, an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is ongoing.
