Biloxi Shuckers pitcher Jorge Ortega didn't have his good stuff on the mound and the Suns took advantage. Ortega gave up 7 runs on 8 hits with 2 base on balls and Jacksonville blasted 3 home runs in 4.2 innings. He suffered his 3rd loss of the season.
Austin Dean smacked a triple in the top of the second inning. He would come home on a sacrifice fly ball to give the Suns a lead they would not relinquish. Jacksonville added another run in the inning before exploding for four runs in the top of the third.
The big hit in the third was a three-run homer off the bat of Austin Dean. He went 3 for 5 for the Suns and drove in five runs. He had a triple and two home runs on the night.
Moises Sierra also belted two home runs, one off Ortega and the other one off Hobb Johnson, who relieved Ortega. He pitched 1.1 innings, gave up 2 hits and 2 runs with 1 strikeout.
The Shuckers were limited to 6 hits. Brandon Macias led Biloxi with two hits in four trips to the plate. He also had a solo home run.
Jarlin Garcia (W, 1-2) posted the win for the Suns. He gave up 3 hits in 5.2 innings with 2 base on balls and 4 strikeouts.
1,529 fans attended the game. Biloxi drops to 19-12 while Jacksonville is now 14 and 18.
Both the Suns and Shuckers clash Wednesday night at 6:40 at MGM Park.
