JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A high-profile child abuse case has been bound over to a grand jury. Nathan McCrory, 24, appeared before a judge in Jackson County on Monday. That judge sent him back to jail without bond.
McCrory is accused of beating and burning his 3-year-old son, Zander Saucier.
McCrory was arrested on April 11 and charged with intentionally and feloniously causing serious bodily harm to a child and intentionally and feloniously burning a child. He is facing five years to life in prison.
According to an arrest affidavit, Zander was hit in the face, head and body, and his injuries included burns and a collapsed lung.
The boy's injuries came to the attention of Jackson County investigators after he was admitted to Singing River Hospital after a reported fall. Hospital staff determined Zander's injuries were not consistent with a fall.
Zander was later airlifted to a hospital in Mobile, AL, to be treated for his severe injuries. He was released from the hospital six days later.
