South Mississippi National Day of Prayer events

WLOX - South Mississippians will gather to pray for their communities and the nation in services marking the 65th Annual National Day of Prayer on May 5.

The theme of the 2016 event is "Wake Up America," a call to action organizers say demonstrates the power and importance of prayer.

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress. The observance is held each year on the first Thursday in May.
