GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The slab removal program in Gulfport is making slow but steady progress. Mike Supple and his crew are busy tearing up the concrete slabs from an old apartment complex on Debuys Rd.
"I've done around 15 slab removal projects lately," said Supple.
This latest job is a big one and will take at least a week.
The City of Gulfport originally sent out 286 letters to property owners, telling them to remove their Katrina slabs.
As of a few days ago, 215 of those cases have been resolved, meaning the slab has been removed, a permit has been pulled for the work or upon closer inspection, the city found it wasn't a slab that requires removal, such as if it served as a parking area.
