Margaritaville looks to hire hundreds at job fair

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Tons of people packed the Biloxi Civic Center on Sunday, hoping to land a job at the second reincarnation of Margaritaville.

The family-friendly resort will feature the Coast's largest entertainment complex, with 55,000-square-feet of fun that includes a water park and a roller coaster.

"Today is our first day of our job fair, we're super excited. We had to open the doors a whole hour early at 10 a.m. We where supposed to open at 11, and we've already gotten about 200 applicants in the door so far," said Taylor Stork, human resources director. "We know that we have good interest."

What astounds some applicants the most is the number of positions that Margaritaville officials are looking to hire - more than 500.

"It's a good opportunity. It's good jobs that will help someone get a job. Margaritaville is a great place to work," said job seeker Stacy Witt.

Charles Rogers has worked in the security field for years, and wants to get a job with Margaritaville security.

"I was looking for a possibility of a new opportunity to join a different security field. I think it's a great opportunity, what they're doing here," said Rogers.

Rogers even brought his niece to the event in hopes that she can find work as well.

"It's a good opportunity for people close to graduating like my niece here is a great opportunity," Rogers added.

The job fair will continue both Monday and Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

"We'll do job offers at the end of this week, so if the applicant hadn't received a phone call by May 11, then we're gonna say that the positions have already been filled," said Stork.
