SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

The rain is over, but several roads in South Mississippi remain closed after Thursday’s heavy showers, which caused flooding in many areas.

In Hancock County, maintenance crews have decided to close the bridge on Cypress Drive East in the White Cypress Lakes Community. Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Adam said heavy rains caused bulkhead and erosion issues under the bridge.

It is unclear how long the bridge will remain closed.

In Harrison County, Menge Ave., Bells Ferry Rd. and Old Highway 49 between Jim Lee Rd. and Hwy. 53 remain closed. Also in Biloxi, Lorraine Rd. is closed from the Biloxi River to Road 248.

We will continue to keep you updated on road closures and when those roads reopen.  Look for the latest on WLOX News Now and WLOX.com.
