High School fast pitch softball results from the second round of the playoffs

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

In the class 6A fast pitch softball ranks, the Biloxi Lady Indians were on the verge of defeating Oak Grove Tuesday night in Biloxi.  Head coach Bruce Thornton watched Biloxi take a 2-0 lead into the top of the seventh inning.

Credit the Lady Warriors for not giving up.  Oak Grove had the bases loaded with one out and tied the game on two base hits.  The Lady Warriors nearly took the lead, but Biloxi came up with a double-play to get out of the inning.

Unfortunately, Oak Grove exploded for 7 runs in the top of the eighth innings and would post a 9-2 victory to take a one-game lead in the best-of-three playoff series.  The Lady Indians travel to oak Grove on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

The St. Martin Lady Jackets took care of business on the road on Tuesday.  Katelyn Gruich smacked two home runs for St. Martin and pitcher Rebecca Anderson rang-up 12 strikeouts in the win.  St. Martin will entertain the Lady Hawks 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two-time defending Class 6A state champion Harrison Central popped Ocean Springs 7 to 3.  The Red Rebelettes will host the Lady Greyhounds in Lyman 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Class 5A playoffs the Pearl River Central Blue Devils dominated Pascagoula 11-0 in five innings Tuesday.  PRC takes aim on a two-game sweep 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Carrier.

Wayne County got the best of Long Beach posting a 4-2 win. Game two is set for 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Wayne County.  West Harrison outlast Picayune 2-1 in 8 innings.  The Lady Canes and Lady Tide clash 5 p.m. Thursday at West Harrison.

Class 4A playoffs the visiting Poplarville Lady Hornets stung the Moss Point Lady Tigers 6-0.  The Lady Hornets go for the sweep 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Poplarville.

North Pike defeated the Pass Christian Lady Pirates 13-4. Pass Christian must beat North Pike beginning 4 p.m. Thursday in the Pass to keep their state title hopes alive.

Class 3A the high-power St. Patrick Lady Irish blanked Choctaw Central on the road Tuesday night 10-0.  St. Patrick takes aim on a sweep 5 p.m. Thursday in Biloxi.
