GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A video showing Gulfport High School students with what appear to be prescription pills on campus has led to three students being suspended. School district officials confirmed a student reported pills on campus Thursday, but a search done right away found no pills.

Friday morning, a parent brought administrators a cellphone video that showed three students showing off pills and a prescription bottle.

“We’re grateful for the student who reported this,” said M.C. Barton, Gulfport School District spokeswoman.

Barton said after officials showed the video to a student and their parent, the student confessed to having the pills on campus. Two other students seen in the video were also questioned with their parents and subsequently disciplined.

A concerned parent sent WLOX News Now a video she said came from Snapchat, which she said showed Gulfport High students holding pills and showing off a prescription bottle. Though school officials confirmed a parent shared a similar video, Barton said the district could not confirm the parent's video was the same one sent to us.

The three students face a disciplinary conference and punishment, such as being sent to the alternative school or expulsion.
