GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has identified the man who died Sunday evening after he was tased by a Gulfport police officer.

Bradford Macomber, 53, was pronounced dead at the hospital after he was tased outside of Shaggy’s Restaurant.

Sgt. Damon McDaniel, with the Gulfport Police Department, said officers were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. to investigate a disturbance inside the restaurant. When police arrived, officers found Macomber outside the restaurant.

"The officers located the described male and attempted to investigate the complaint," wrote McDaniel in a press release. "At that time, the suspect was resistive resulting in an officer deploying a Taser to subdue the suspect who was then arrested."

Police said Macomber continued acting erratically after he was handcuffed, so American Medical Response was called to the scene.

McDaniel reports Macomber was then taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The case is being investigated by the District Attorney's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
