HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - An afternoon tea, entertainment and some life saving information was the recipe to help prevent heart disease on Sunday.
The Hancock County Civic Club Esperanze held its second annual High Tea fundraiser for health causes.
Last year the group raised money for Alzheimer's disease. This year the focus was on heart disease.
Guest speaker and nurse practitioner Kataina Breland armed the crowd with information designed to save lives.
"Did you know stress can cause you to have heart trouble? All of that oil, that grease. Stay away from that high fat content food," said Breland.
Connie Lyons with Esperanze Public Relations added, "Cardiac disease is the number one killer of women, so we choose that to get more information out to our community."
Nearly 200 people turned out for the event. The group will present a check to the American Heart Association in the coming days.
